The dentists and specialists of the Dental Care of Medicover, and the modern, up-to-date dental procedures with modern equipments guarantee the high standard oral surgery treatments.
We use painless oral surgery treatments in the following problems:
- Tooth extraction, wisdom-tooth extraction and tooth roots
- Cyst removal
- Bone replacement
Cysts are tumor-like sacs which are usually caused by development abnormality or by inflammation. It is important to know, that they are tumor-like, as they do not belong to the group of tumors, because their growth is not caused by cell proliferation. So, no one need to be frightened if the dentist says someone has a cyst. Most cysts at the early stage can be treated very efficiently.
Patients usually do not feel the cyst in their mouth at all, but it is detected by an X-ray which usually been made before another dental surgical treatment; in this case, dental surgery is necessary, as the cyst must be immediately removed.
The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia.
The process is to make an incision into the gum, then the bone covering the cyst is removed by special equipment on an area depending on the size of the cyst. The cyst can be easily removed through this little bone window. If the cyst is too large, the cavity is filled by bone chips or biomaterial.
Usually the loss of teeth is the main reason why bone replacement is needed. Once teeth are lost, the bone tissue is never stimulated when chewing, so the quick resorption of the unused area starts, and bone replacement becomes necessary.
Bone replacement is usually needed when the width or height of the jaw bone part is not enough to support the implant.
Bone replacement process:
Bone replacement is performed under local anesthesia.
All materials we use for bine replacement are biocompatible, in other words, must not cause harm to the body in any way or trigger tissue reactions, and must not lead to the development of toxic products during their dissolution. Modern materials used for bone replacement fully satisfy all three requirements.
The dentist mix the bone replacement material with the patient’s blood collected from the surgical area or with PRP (platelet rich plasma) or with own bone chips before inserted, and is covered by an absorbable collagen membrane. Above the membrane, the flap is covered without causing tightness.
Suture removal is followed by a a fes days. The healing period is different in each cases while the bone replacement material integrates with its surrounding area and fully becomes part of the body.
Most cases the untreated decayed tooth and the illness of its environment can lead to tooth removal. There are cases, when intact teeth may need to be removed, such as, the premolar for the purpose of orthodontic treatment, or an impacted third molar or eye-tooth which can cause complaints, or a tooth that is in a very wrong position and hinders tooth replacement.
After it is finally decided thorough examination and preparations that a tooth must be removed, the procedure is quite simple. Our dentists use local anesthesia for tooth removal.
For the painless extraction, it is important that the dentist knows the anatomy of the tooth and the bone. As a first step, the tooth must be carefully loosened, and remove only after this process.
There are cases, when the normal tooth extraction is not possible for example, in the case of extreme decay, when the tooth can snap easily, or when the tooth has a strongly curved root.. In these cases, surgical extraction is needed, which is also performed under local anesthesia at our clinic.
Surgical extraction means, that a flap is prepared by a cut around the tooth, and the gum is separated carefully, after the bone around the roots is removed by a chisel, and the tooth is lifted out. After the extraction is important to remove all inflamed tissue in the wound cavity. Finally, wound edges are joined and the surgical area is closed by sutures.
