Laser root canal treatment
The goal of root canal treatment is to effectively remove contaminated nerve tissue from the tooth. These infected soft tissues are removed manually or mechanically.
During the process, the laser produces a bactericidal effect that provides deeper disinfection than a classic rinsing system with chemicals. The use of the laser also promotes cell regeneration (cellular biostimulation) in the affected area, thus further increasing the success of the interventions. Additionally, laser root canal treatment allows the roots to be disinfected in a single treatment – if the infection is not severe – which means the dentist can close the root canals immediately, hence limiting the risk of postoperative pain. In contrast, the manual procedure can cause infection in the root due to the accumulation of bacteria and the formation of an abscess.

The diode laser is used to reduce germs and bacteria in the gum pocket and to reduce granular tissue at the bottom of the pockets.

Bizonyos egészségügyi állapotok ellenjavalltak a lézeres beavatkozáshoz: helyi érzéstelenítővel szembeni túlérzékenység, allergia, daganatos megbetegedés, terhesség, szívbetegség, tüdőgyulladás, vérzési rendellenességek, alvási zavarok (apnoe), legyengült immunrendszer, illetve bármilyen olyan egészségügyi állapot vagy gyógyszer, amely ellenjavallhatja a készülékhez kapcsolódó egyes fény- / lézerforrások használatát.
Az eljárás nem alkalmazható továbbá bőrbetegségben szenvedő páciensek (fotodermatózis), valamint fényérzékeny betegek (fotoallergia) esetében.
Certain medical conditions are contraindicated for laser procedure: hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics, allergies, cancer, pregnancy, heart disease, pneumonia, bleeding disorders, sleep disorders (apnoea), weakened immune system, or any medical condition or medication that may interfere with the operation’s use of certain light and laser sources.
The procedure should also not be used when it comes to patients with skin diseases (photodermatitis), or photosensitive patients (photoallergy).
